Do you know how much time you spend on your phone each day? What about each week? In his book, Driven to Distraction at Work, Dr. Hallowell devotes an entire chapter to the problem of "screen-sucking," where he emphasizes the need to learn how to control your electronics so they don't control you. And in this mini he talks about why you should take a look at your screen habits and assess the results. Dr. Hallowell gives detailed instructions on how you can track your phone usage to learn not just how much time you spend on your phone, but specifically which apps and features consume your attention the most.

"Every era gets the drug it deserves. In America today, where competition is ceaseless from school to the workforce and everyone wants a performance edge, Adderall and other prescription stimulants are the defining drugs of this generation." That's the way IMDB.com describes the new documentary produced by Maria Shriver and her daughter Christina Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, anecdotal evidence is used more than scientific evidence in the film, which could do more harm than good for those with ADHD. Listen as Dr. Hallowell shares his thoughts on how this well-meaning documentary goes off course.

A recent New York Times article about the gender pay gap got Dr. Hallowell thinking about his own personality traits and wondering if he would be richer, more well-known and more successful if he were less agreeable in life.  Ultimately, Dr. H wouldn't change who he is and instead suggests, "Take stock of who you are naturally and try to look kindly on that." Listen to his words of wisdom and think about the good ways you apply yourself every day.
